Covid-19 News highlights on Government Package amid the Coronavirus – 1.7 lakh crore
The union finance minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman announced Rs. 1.7 lakh crore package to deal with the outbreak of coronavirus. The package will be provided through cash and foods amid the lockdown to the poor.
Nirmala Sitharaman’s Briefings
- Workers including the nurse, sanitation staff, and paramedics are to be provided as medical insurance. Fifty lakh per person.
- Under the scheme of ‘Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’, poor people are to be given five kg of rice and wheat for the coming 3 months. The allocation is given additionally with the five kg of rice and one kg of the pulse.
- More than 20.5 crore women are registered under the ‘Jan Dhan Account’. People registered under this scheme will be getting Rs. 1000 for the next 3 months.
- The beneficiaries under the ‘Ujjawala LPG scheme’ will be getting free gas for consecutive months. It is under part of the Rs. 1.70 lakh crore package.
- The daily wage of workers under the MNREGA scheme has been increased from Rs. 202 to Rs. 182 to provide the benefit to five-crore workers.
- Farmers will get Rs. 2000 in addition to Rs. 6000 under the ‘PM-Kisan’. The benefits will be given during the first week of April.
- Ex-gratia 1000 will be given in two installments to poor, senior citizens, divyang, and senior citizens.
- The government has to pay EPF contribution to employers and employees for the next three months in which the strength of employees is less than 100. Employees earning less than fifteen-thousand workers in 100-people companies can withdraw seventy-five percent from PF funds.
- More than three-crore workers belonging to the construction can get the benefit of Rs. 31000 crore.
