The Andhra Pradesh government is set to establish its first nature-cure medical college-cum-hospital in Visakhapatnam. This initiative includes:
- Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences (BNYS) program, commencing in the 2026-27 academic year.
- A 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospital offering services in homeopathy, Ayurveda, and Unani medicine.
- The project is being developed at a cost of ₹16.40 crore for the college and ₹14.85 crore for the hospital.
TESTING FACILITY IN AYUSH HOSPITAL
In addition to the medical college and hospital, the government is constructing an Ayurveda medicine manufacturing and quality testing lab in the Sontyam area. Key details include:
- The lab is being developed at a cost of ₹6 crore, with an additional ₹5 crore allocated for machinery and equipment.
- The facility aims to enhance the production and quality assurance of Ayurvedic medicines.
Expansion Plans in Dharmavaram and Kakinada
The government has submitted proposals under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) to establish:
- Ayurveda medical colleges in Dharmavaram and Kakinada, with a combined proposal value of ₹45 crore.
- A 50-bed Ayurvedic hospital alongside the medical college in Dharmavaram.
These initiatives are part of the government’s broader strategy to promote integrated AYUSH healthcare and traditional medicine across the state.
