As Dengue cases rise each year, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda emphasized that hospital readiness is the first line of defense. Hospitals must ensure trained staff, sufficient bed capacity, diagnostic tools, and essential medicines to handle patient flow during the Dengue season. Early diagnosis and timely treatment remain crucial to prevent severe complications and fatalities.
The Minister also stressed the importance of a robust surveillance system to track Dengue cases at an early stage. This allows faster response and better resource management at both state and district levels. Coordination between central and local health authorities is essential to strengthen this system.
Community Engagement for Dengue Prevention
Beyond hospitals, community action plays a decisive role in stopping Dengue transmission. Nadda urged citizens to take proactive steps by eliminating stagnant water, cleaning surroundings, and reducing mosquito breeding sites. Public awareness campaigns, local participation, and cooperation with municipal drives are critical in controlling Dengue outbreaks.
